New configuration for ULAQ AUSV!
President of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir has announced the new configuration of ULAQ AUSV with a video on Twitter. The new configuration was previously exhibited at fairs such as DIMDEX 2021. At that time, it carried the YALMAN weapon system at the rear and 12.7 mm RCWS at the front.
In the shared video, it attracts attention that the rear compartment could also carry the ASW Rocket launcher, triple light torpedo launcher and towed sonar, apart from the YALMAN weapon system. With its ability to carry different types of sonar such as towed sonar, immersion sonar, telescopic sonar, it can be evaluated that the new configuration will offer quite extensive options for ASW.
It is noteworthy that the domestic diesel engine is emphasized in the more modular configuration compared to the first produced configuration. As it is known, it was announced that ARES Shipyard and TÜMOSAN would cooperate on the use of domestic marine diesel engines in ULAQ AUSV. The new configuration will be domestic at rate of nearly 90% in total.
