The contract for the T0 prototype for ATAK II was signed in April 2019 whose main users will be Turkish Navy and Turkish Army. ATAK II was designed entirely within domestic capabilities in line with increased payload and ammunition capacity (1,200 kg excluding launchers), modern avionic systems, reduced logistic costs and high performance demands.

Within the scope of the program, two TV3-117VMA-SBM1V-01T Turboshaft Engines produced by Ukrainian engine manufacturer Motor Sich were delivered to TAI on January 27, 2023. Following the delivery, integration of engines into the helicopters will be carried out within March and necessary preparations for the execution of ground tests will be made.
CEO of TUSAS (Turkish Aerospace Industries, TAI) Temel Kotil has also stated that the ATAK II will run its engines soon.
