The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed 16 contracts with companies producing Ukrainian Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
According to the post on the official Facebook account of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed 16 agreements with Ukrainian UAV manufacturers. The total amount of the signed agreements is 20 billion Ukrainian hryvnias.
The following statements were made in the statement made by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine:
“In 2023, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will increase the purchase of UAVs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Taking the needs and demands of the Ukrainian army in 2023 into consideration, about 20 billion Ukrainian hryvnia should be directed to this segment. This issue was discussed at a joint meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, developers and manufacturers of indigenous UAVs.”
The approval process, which took place between 1.5 and 2 years before the Russia-Ukraine War, started to be approved within a few weeks with the war. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that since November 2022, they have received 75 applications for various types of UAVs.
Currently, 13 of these applications are being coded and the technical conditions have been approved. It was stated that all 3 types of UAVs are in the coding phase. According to experts at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the process of using UAVs in the army in Ukraine takes place in the shortest time compared to countries in Europe.
According to the news of Ukrinform, an agreement covering 1,711 units was signed with Ukrainian UAV manufacturers within the scope of Ukraine’s ‘Drone Army’ project. About 1,000 UAVs have been delivered to the Ukrainian Army so far.
