Turkey’s East Mediterranean policy
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on his social media account:
“Turkey’s East Mediterranean policy rises on two pillars:
- Protection of our sovereign rights in our continental shelf by limiting the maritime jurisdiction areas in accordance with international law in a fair manner.
- Guaranteeing the rights and interests of Turkish Cypriots over hydrocarbon resources as equal partners of the island.
Just as we do not have our eyes on anyone, we do not let anyone else suffer. We will not bow to the language of threat, pressure and blackmail in the Eastern Mediterranean. ”
