Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar and Chief of General Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler visited the capital of Libya to review the activities carried out with regards to the Memorandum of Understanding on Security & Military Cooperation.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a statement:“First we sent our Navy Commander to Libya in accordance with a plan. My Defense Minister accompanied by a delegation is there today. We want to continue the process in Libya from a much closer perspective.”
A military ceremony was held at Mitiga Airport for the visit of Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar and Chief of General Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler.
Akar was welcomed by Libyan Deputy Defense Minister Salah Al-Namroush, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Mohammed al-Shareef, Chief of Naval Staff Abdul Hakim Abuhalia, Serhat Aksen Turkey’s Ambassador to Tripoli and other Turkish and Libyan Libyan officials, and greeted the escort of honour.
Following the ceremony, Minister Akar and Chief of General Staff Yaşar Güler visited the Defense Security Cooperation and Training Assistance Advisory Command, which was established within the scope of the MoU.
