The training simulator Korkut-ES developed by HAVELSAN for the “KORKUT”, a Low-Altitude Self-Propellee Air Defense Gun System started its mission.
Developing simulators for military and civilian platforms and leading Turkey in this field, HAVELSAB claimed responsibility for producing simulators for KORKUT air defense system. HAVELSAN, which has an important position in personnel training processes with its simulators developed in line with the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces, has also responded to the needs of its air defense units with its KORKUT-ES produced.
Korkut training simulator developed by HAVELSAN engineers was installed at Konya Air Defense School and Training Center Command Air Defense Training Center. It is stated that the Korkut-ES system will allow training of six different air defense and command control systems in either independent or integrated configuration.
KORKUT mass production contract was signed between the Presidency of Defense Industry of the Republic of Turkey and ASELSAN on 19th May 2016. The first batch of mass production of KORKUT systems was delivered in March 2019. A total of 13 KORKUT low altitude air defense weapons systems were delivered to the Turkish Air Forces with the final deliveries. HAVELSAN developed and delivered Korkut-ES as sub-contractor in the project, where ASELSAN was the prime contractor.
KORKUT Low-Altitude Self-Propelled Air Defense Gun System
- KORKUT system is an air defense system developed for effective air defense of mechanized units with mobilized elements. The KORKUT system will serve in teams consisting of three weapon system vehicles and one command and control vehicle. KORKUT-weapon system vehicle has the ability to fire 35 mm airburst ammunition, again developed by ASELSAN. Airburst Ammunition allows 35 mm air defense cannons to perform their missions effectively against air targets such as air-to-ground missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
