The fuselage and tail part of the TAI T929 Atak II Helicopter Project entered the assembly line.
Another important threshold has been exceeded within the scope of the T929 Heavy Class Attack Helicopter Project (Atak II). T929 is an improved version of the T129 Atak helicopter originally designed and developed by TAI. In this context, the fuselage and tail of the T929 Helicopter entered the assembly line. The fuselage of the T929 helicopter produced by Coşkunöz Defense Aviation was delivered to TAI. In addition, TAI General Manager Temel Kotil announced that the engines developed by Ukraine, which will be used for the T929, have also started to be packaged. It is expected that the engines will reach Turkey as soon as possible.
It was announced in the “Gündem Özel” broadcast in A Haber in February 22 that 3 units of ATAK II attack helicopters would be delivered to the Land Forces Command in 2025, and that the 11-ton ATAK II helicopter would start its engine and rotate its propellers in 2022. Kotil had previously announced that the engines of the Heavy Class Attack Helicopter ATAK-II would come from Ukraine and that a contract was signed in this context.
The prototype stage of the T-30H 30×113 mm gun was successfully completed.
On December 31, 2022, ASELSAN Konya General Manager Bülent Işık made evaluations about the projects in the live broadcast of A Haber and regarding the T-30H 30×113 mm Electric Driven Automatic Cannon developed for the ATAK II Heavy Attack Helicopter, he said: “We have completed the prototype stage of the -30H 30×113 mm Electric Driven Automatic Cannon. Now, additional product production has started.”
Işık also stated that at the launch of the 30X113 mm gun by ASELSAN Konya at SAHA EXPO 2022, the firing rate was 200-300 beats/min and that the T-30H could shoot 625 beats per minute.
Using 30×113 mm ammunition, the T-30H offers the option of a needle firing mechanism in addition to the electric firing mechanism. Developed for the TAI T929 ATAK II Heavy Class Attack Helicopter, the T-30H has a firing rate of 200 to 300 rounds/minute. Although it was developed for ATAK II, the T-30H has a structure suitable for use on land and sea platforms with its weight of 59 kg. According to the information obtained by Defence Turk, the T-30H is also suitable for use on SARP ZAFER RCWS.
T929 Heavy Class Attack Helicopter
The T929 Helicopter is developed completely uniquely, thanks to the experience and operational experience gained from the T129 ATAK. The helicopter is designed to be suitable for various weather conditions. Subsystems of T625 Gökbey, which is another TAI production, will also be used in ATAK-II. It was announced that the Ukrainian-origin Motor Sich designed engine to be used in ATAK-II would be produced in Turkey. The first deliveries are planned for 2025.
