Baykar Defense Technical Manager (CTO) Selçuk Bayraktar shared a part of the test of the engine indigenously produced by TEI in his post on his Twitter account and announced Bayraktar TB3 UAV.
Selçuk Bayraktar stated in his post that the indigenous engine (PD-170 or its derivative estimated) was tested and that this engine would be integrated into AKINCI attack UAV and Bayraktar TB3. Selçuk Bayraktar introduced the engine as “the aircraft engine with the highest performance values by far in this class in the world.”.
Selçuk Bayraktar stated that the test was carried out a month ago, the engine tested was not a prototype and a serial production engine.
There is no official statement yet regarding the design details and payloads of the TB3, whose name is only mentioned. However, the estimates are that there will be a MALE (medium-altitude, long-endurance) class UAV between Bayraktar TB2 and AKINCI.

“A TB2 to be integrated with SATCOM would be much more dangerous”
Defence Turk writer Kadir Doğan said regarding the post, “With TB3, we are likely to see some structural changes in TB2. I think SATCOM can be integrated. A TB2 to be integrated with SATCOM would be much more dangerous. ”
Doğan also added, “If I’m not mistaken, the other engine is the Pratt & Whitney PT-6 Turboprop engine. This engine is also used in Hürkuş. It may be considered as an alternative to AKINCI. I think there are different alternatives.”
