Rafael introduces the AeroSpike, an air-to-ground Stand-Off Precision Guided Missile developed for fixed-wing aerial platforms.
AeroSpike is the next generation EO/IR Stand-Off Precision Guided Missile system designed to meet the needs of complex modern warfare. The lightweight system has high sensitivity (CEP ≤ 3 ft). In this context, it is stated that AeroSpike has a range of 30 km in difficult operating areas, regardless of GPS.
AeroSpike incorporates advanced Spike LR2 precision guided missile technologies, including a high resolution dual EO/IR seeker head powered by advanced image matching and sensing-tracking capabilities. The system provides high lethality while allowing man-in-loop operations with a real-time data link, a combination of HEAT (anti-tank) and fragmentation warheads.
The precision, protection and lethality of the AeroSpike missile provide a powerful solution for fire support, Close Air Support in counter-terrorism missions, and A2/AD (Anti Access/ Area Denial) operations in full-intensity conflicts. AeroSpike is specifically designed for fixed-wing aerial platforms, enabling engagement of both moving and static targets in day and night conditions and adverse weather conditions.
The real-time RF data link of the AeroSpike Stand-Off Precision Guided Missile provides mid-flight target transfer, retargeting and cancellation capabilities, while allowing control of approach angle, azimuth and missile flight trajectory. In this context, the need for personnel is minimal thanks to the simplified working concept of the system.
The 30km engagement range of the AeroSpike missile makes this weapon system ideal for air-to-ground missions against modern layered Air Defense Artillery (ADA) networks, mobile Surface-to-Air Missile batteries, armored vehicles and urban infrastructure.
