President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a statement to the journalists after the Friday prayer on 7 August.

President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, made statements to reporters after the Friday prayers on August 7. In his speeches, Erdogan made statements about the maritime jurisdiction restriction agreement signed by Greece and Egypt and said that the Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha seismic research ship was also sent back to duty. President Erdoğan also mentioned the explosion that took place in Beirut, Lebanon in his speech.

“We have sent Barbaros Hayrettin to the area again”

President Erdogan stressed that the agreement with Libya will continue to be maintained with determination. Erdogan said, “As you know, most recently, my Foreign Minister had large-scale meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Malta and Libya in Malta and Libya. These negotiations continue in a determined manner. We here, especially in maritime jurisdictions, do not even need to negotiate with those who have no rights at all. ” said.

Referring to the drilling activity previously stopped due to the request of Germany, Erdogan said that the Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha seismic research ship was sent back to duty. In his statements on the subject, “Angela Merkel said,  ‘If you stop drilling in the region, you will make it easier.’ Then I said, ‘If you trust Greece and others, we will take a break from these drilling activities for 3-4 weeks. But I do not trust them and you will see, they will not keep their promise.’ As a matter of fact, that is what happened. ”

Erdogan said that talks between Germany, Greece and Turkey had been initiated by foreign ministers and advisers, and said that drilling activities had resumed, citing the parties’ failure to keep their promises. “They don’t keep their promises. We have reported the same situation to Mrs. Merkel. And now, we’ve resumed drilling. At this point, we sent Barbaros Hayrettin on its mission again.”

“We will be with Lebanon materially and morally.”

Speaking about the explosion in Lebanon, President Erdoğan said that the explosion was a huge disaster and that no clear information was given about the source of the explosion yet. Erdoğan stated that military and medical aid support was sent to Beirut with Koca Yusuf, the A400M cargo plane of the Turkish Armed Forces.

Erdogan stated that he told the Lebanese President that they can provide all necessary financial support for those who suffered from the explosion and are ready to do so. “Lebanon was a country of great importance in the region, especially with the Port of Beirut. The harbor’s exposure to such a situation has indeed caused a serious problem in the region. How many years will it take to rebuild and revive the port? They are also a separate problem. But we will stand by Lebanon with everything, materially and spiritually. “ said President Erdogan.
