Maltese European & Foreign Affairs Minister Minister Evarist Bartolo will visit Turkey on July 14,2020.
Evarist Bartolo Minister for European and Foreign Affairs of the Republic Malta will pay an official visit to Turkey on 14 July 2020. During the talks between H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and his counterpart, bilateral and Turkey-EU relations as well as current regional and international issues including Libya will be discussed.
A Memorandum of Understanding between was signed between the UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) and Malta. Fayez Sarraj, Head of the Presidential Council of Libya, and his Maltese couterpart Robert Abella gathered on May, 20 and agreed to consolidate the cooperation for the fight against illegal migrants and a variety of issues concerning two states.
In addition, Malta announced the withdrawal from IRINI Operation after vetoing spending of EU funding for naval mission for France’s interests. Malta complains that European Commission is unable to come up with effective solutions for rescuing migrants at sea and relocating them.
