As part of the Weapon Carrier Vehicle deliveries, developed by FNSS Defense to the Land Forces Command, OMTAS anti-tank turreted vehicles are delivered.
According to an announced by Turkish Defense Ministry, “The supply of KAPLAN Weapon Carrier Vehicles, which are aimed to increase the operational efficiency of the Anti-Tank Company of our Land Forces Command, continues. While 113 vehicles have been included in the inventory so far, 9 more recently have been included in the inventory.”
94 tracked Kaplan and 19 wheeled PARS anti-tank vehicles were delivered to the Land Forces Command by FNSS Defense. Finally, 9 vehicles, whose inspection and acceptance activities were completed on April 5, 2021, were taken into the inventory. 7 of the vehicles were delivered to the 5th Armored Brigade Command in Gaziantep, and 2 to the 2nd Armored Brigade Command in Kahramanmaraş.
While 113 vehicles will be delivered to the Land Forces Command as part of the Weapon Carrier Vehicles Project, 344 vehicles will be delivered within the scope of the project. According to the latest statement, 208 of them are tracked KAPLAN and 136 of them are wheeled PARS anti-tank vehicles. Within the scope of the Weapon Carrier Vehicles project, a total of 260 vehicles, 184 of which are KAPLAN and 76 of which are PARS 4 × 4 STA, will be procured from FNSS Defense.
KAPLAN STAs, which the Turkish Armed Forces have recently added to their inventory, are serving with Mehmetcik(Heroic Turkish Soldiers) in Syria. A footage that published by Turkish Defense Ministry, showed that KAPLAN STA vehicles were in desert camouflage. Tracked KAPLAN STA vehicles feature a Russian-made weapon turret with a maximum range of 5.5 km and the firing capability of the Kornet-E ATGM.
