The LAÇİN Guidance Kit, an innovative solution by Roketsan, allows bombs to be directed towards the target via a data link and Imaging Infrared seeker (IIR). The LAÇİN Guidance Kit, which will soon be delivered to the Turkish Air Force, will be presented to visitors for the first time at IDEF’21.
The LAÇİN Guidance Kit was developed in line with the requirements of the Turkish Air Force, to enhance the effectiveness of the MK-82 General Purpose Bombs against targets in caves, moving targets and long-range targets.
The LAÇİN Guidance Kit has been developed in compliance with the MIL-STD-1760B standard. It has a 16 Nm range for a 0.9 mach release speed and a 20,000-feet drop altitude, and a 28 Nm range for a 1.1 mach drop speed and 40,000 feet drop altitude. The data link engagement range of the LAÇİN Guidance Kit has been specified as 50 Nm.
In January 2019, Roketsan started the LAÇİN Guidance Kit programme as a self-funded project, and within a short timeframe of 6 months, it became ready for launch. In a capability demonstration test held in November 2019, an MK-82 general-purpose bomb integrated with the LAÇİN Guidance Kit was launched from an F-16 fighter aircraft, successfully destroying its target.
Roketsan continues to work to increase the range of both the guidance kit and the data link unit, with the aerodynamic analysis phase of the fixed-wing and folding-wing development completed. Efforts to simultaneously increase the data link range and to improve the image quality transmitted to the user have also come to an end. Upon the completion of these works, it is aimed to complete the flight tests of the system.

Working with the vision to take a leading role in the global defence sector with indigenous, reliable and pioneering rocket and missile solutions, Roketsan Missiles Industries was founded on 14 June 1988, by the decision of the Defense Industries Executive Committee. With its indigenous products and designs, Roketsan develops and manufactures various types of rockets, missiles, guided munitions along with their launching and propulsion systems, seekers, guidance-control systems, fuzes, warheads, mechanical parts, algorithm and software, integrates them to land, air and naval platforms, gives logistical support for these systems, produces rocket propellant, designs and manufactures ballistic protection and ensures the development of space launch vehicles in its facilities at Ankara. With over 3400 staff, 1800 engineers and its self-financing R&D projects, Roketsan continues designing and developing products indigenous to Turkey, with the aim to become the country’s biggest technology army.
