F-35Adir squadron of the Israel Air Forces became operational.
According to an announcement by Israel Air Forces, the second F-35Adir squadron, “The Lions of the South” became operational. It was stated that after six months of intensive preparations, 116th squadron (The Lions of the South) that is the second F-35Adir squadron, became officially engaged in full activity. The announcement informed that almost six months ago, the personal training activities were started with 4 F-35Adir and from now on the entire squadron of Israeli Air Forces has become ready for the operations.
Before being announced as ready for the operation, the squadron required to undergo a long process, during which it gained experience in various fields. As part of the operational compliance audit, the 116th squadron simulated 72-hour intense combat strikes. The squadron, which is stated to have a small staff and fighter aircraft, will be provided with new staff and F-35Adir in the future.
The Israel Air Forces will have had two squadrons of the F-35Adir with full capacity by 2024, including the 104th “Golden Eagle” squadron that was deployed at Nevatim Air Base, and the 116th “The Lions of the South.”
