TCG AKHİSAR, the first of the Hisar class Offshore Patrol Vessels under construction by ASFAT, will be launched in July 2023. Local weapon and sensor systems to be used in Hisar class Offshore Patrol Ships have been announced. Systems developed by ASELSAN, METEKSAN, ROKETSAN and HAVELSAN will be mainly used on ships.

Indigenous systems to be used on the Offshore Patrol Vessel:

  • 1x HİSAR-O Air Defense Missile (ASELSAN)
  • ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile (ROKETSAN) in 2×4 launcher
  • 1x 76/62 mm Indigenous Naval Gun (MKE)
  • 1x GÖKDENİZ 35 mm Close Air Defense System (ASELSAN)
  • 2x TARGAN 12.7 mm RCWS (Unirobotics)
  • 1x YAKAMOS Hull Mounted Sonar (METEKSAN)
  • 1x DÜFAS Active and Passive Towable Sonar System (ASELSAN)
  • 1x PIRI Infrared Search and Tracking System (ASELSAN)
  • 1x DENİZGÜ OHTAPOT-S Electro-optical Search System (ASELSAN)
  • 1x DSH Rocket Launch System (ASELSAN)
  • 1x MAR-D 3D Search Radar (ASELSAN)
  • 1x AKR-D Fire Control Radar (ASELSAN)
  • 1x YELKOVAN Radar Electronic Support System (TÜBİTAK)
  • ADVENT SYS Combat Management System (HAVELSAN)

ASFAT OPV, which was showcased at IDEF21 with its weapon and sensor loads, was displayed with 2×4 HİSAR launchers and 2×4 ATMACA anti-ship missiles behind the anti-ship missiles. Thanks to the mid-altitude capabilities provided by the HİSAR-O missiles, the OPVs put into service will be able to conduct air defense warfare over a wider area compared to the existing corvettes. The scale model exhibited at IDEF21 also included the YALMAN weapon system capable of using CİRİT and UMTAS missiles, but YALMAN was not included in the updated design.

Thanks to the mid-altitude capabilities provided by the HİSAR-O missiles, the Hisar-class OPVs put into service will be able to conduct air defense warfare (HSH) in a wider area compared to the existing corvettes. In addition, thanks to YAKAMOS Hull Mounted Sonar and DSH Rockets, Hisar class OPVs will be able to support anti-submarine warfare missions. When choosing MAR-D instead of SMART-S as a search radar, it can be considered that reasons such as cost and demand are at the forefront.
