Air Satellite Communication Terminal (SATCOM), developed domestic and nationally by CTech, took office in AKSUNGUR.
Dev-Ku-18 Airborne Satellite Terminal of CTech Information Technologies, which develops communication solutions for Turkish Defence Industry’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems (IHAS), has started to work at AKSUNGUR.
In the sharing made by CTech, the development was announced with these statements: “The domestic and national broadband satellite communication system tests of our AKSUNGUR UAVs, one of the most important factors of Turkey, which are produced by CTech, have been successfully completed and our terminals have started to operate in our skies.”
Thanks to the connection made via SATCOM, A/UAVs can overcome the range limitation imposed by the line of sight (LOS) connection, and can communicate with the ground control station in a wide area that is as large as the coverage area of the connected satellite and can operate in a wider area and at a higher range.
Domestic data link to domestic UAVs
The line of sight (LOS) communication solution (data link) for the secure communication of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) developed by Ctech has also started its duty.
The UFUK-HX10, which has a range of 200 km, offers C Band communication solution at an altitude of 40 thousand feet. UFUK-HX10 contains all the sub-components required for safe and uninterrupted communication between the UAV and the ground control station under harsh weather and operating conditions.
According to the product introduction images shared by Ctech, with the communication solution, instant data can be sent not only to the UAV ground control station but also to different platforms such as tanks, armored vehicles and warships with ground communication modem. In addition, data can be shared instantly with dynamic factors in the air such as an attack helicopter.
It was not announced by Ctech with which aircraft the said communication solution was used. Ctech only said “CTech C Band Data Link Communication System is on the field! We continue to produce domestic and national technology for the safe communication of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles!” in the description.
In the past, products of foreign origin were used
In the past, communication solutions originating in the USA were used in domestic UAVs such as Bayraktar TB2 and ANKA. With the acceleration of sub-system indigenization efforts for UAVs, localization efforts in data link products have also gained momentum. Data links, which are an important component for UAVs, are a critical product for operational safety.
