Developed for the ALTAY main battle tank, the AKKOR Active Protection System provided full protection against the widely used guided anti-tank munitions in the tests.
One of the most distinctive features of the ALTAY Tank is that it has the AKKOR Active Protection System, which significantly increases its survivability. The fact that AKKOR has a very wide orientation limit on the vertical axis should also be considered as an important capability against anti-tank hits that can strike from above. In addition to increasing its survivability, AKKOR also provides significant gains in the situational awareness capability of tanks, thanks to the added radar system.
The AKKOR System, which neutralizes the threat in less than 1 second after detection, consists of four components. These are the radar, which performs the task of detecting and tracking the anti-tank rocket or missile approaching the tank, the central management computer that manages the detection and tracking information of the entire system, the ammunition shooter that directs the precautionary ammunition to the destruction point at very high speed, and the physical destruction ammunition with high-precision radar on it. consists of components.
More than a thousand shots were fired during the development work of the AKKOR System. As a result, the system has been brought to a high performance level. While dozens of companies and countries have started to develop the Active Protection System in the last two decades, only two countries outside of Turkey have developed a system that can enter the inventory.
