Through the Presidency of Defense Industries’ project, a new radio was developed for the Turkish Armed Forces. President of Defense Industries Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir announced that Electronic Warfare Protection Handheld Radio EHKET started to be exported.
Demir said,” Turkey, which was forced to use foreign-made handheld radios during the Cyprus Peace Operation, today is one of the numbered countries in the world that designs, develops and uses national and independent communication systems.”
Turkish Armed Forces Multi-band Numerical Joint Radio Project (ÇBSMT) signed between the Presidency of Defense Industry and ASELSAN encompasses national software-based handheld radios for tactical and strategic communication needs of land, sea and air forces. The handheld radio is developed as part of the Electronic Warfare Protection Handheld Radio-EHKET project.
Demir, also, said that handheld radio EHKET can meet the voice-data-video communication needs with its small, portable, lightweight, multiband, and multifunctional structure that eases adaptation to harshest conditions.
