Firing tests were carried out with the 7.62 mm weapon system of domestic UGVs developed within the context of the Middle-Class 1st Level Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) Project.
President of the Presidency of Defence Industries Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, in his share on his official Twitter account, announced that the prototype racing activities initiated within the context of the Middle-Class 1st Level Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) Project go on. In the post on 27 June 2021, it was reported that after the inspection and mobility tests of the UGVs developed by Turkish Defense Industry companies to enter the Turkish Armed Forces inventory, firing tests with the 7.62 mm weapon system were also carried out.
In the statement made by İsmail Demir, it was indicated that UGVs produced by Aselsan, Best Grup, Elektroland and Havelsan took part in prototype racing activities. It was also stated that after the autonomy and performance tests, the prototype racing phase will be completed in July 2021.

In the shared video, there are UGVs named Aslan, Fedai, Hançer and Barkan developed by Aselsan, Best Grup, Elektroland and Havelsan (respectively).
Barkan Unmanned Ground Vehicle
Barkan, a middle-class multi-purpose unmanned ground vehicle developed by Havelsan, was first seen in February 2021, while Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar and his accompanying delegation were inspecting Havelsan.
HAVELSAN announced during its logo launch on December 8, 2020 that it provided unmanned aerial and ground vehicles with joint operational capability. It was remarked that with the new capability brought to the platforms, joint operations can be carried out from a single center by integrating payloads and subsystems in unmanned aerial and ground vehicles. The BARKAN UGV system was actually seen here for the first time.
