Airborne Early Warning and Control System Logistics Support Service Agreement was signed between the Presidency of Defense Industries and Turkish Airlines Technic. TAI, HAVELSAN and Boeing will be the subcontractors of the project, which includes logistic support services for mission and ground systems, 4 Peace Eagle AEW&C Aircrafts already in the inventory of the Air Force Command.
As part of the project, in addition to the support provided in the field for the maintenance of the AEW&C System located in Konya’s 3rd Main Jet Base, the depot-level maintenance of the aircraft will be carried out at the Esenboğa Airport facilities of Turkish Airlines Technic., a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines. The experiences of TAI and HAVELSAN as the subcontractors during the development process of the AEW&C System will also be used throughout the process. Support will be received from Boeing, the manufacturer of the aircraft, in material supply, documentation and technical issues. With the project, all logistics support needed for the AEW&C System will be continuously provided.

With the AEW&C System Logistics Support Project, Turkish Airlines Technic’s international experience in material procurement/repair/maintenance was offered to the defense of our country. Turkish Airlines Technic’s experience in civil aviation has been a significant gain in project management in terms of cost-effectiveness. In addition, the experiences of TAI and HAVELSAN, which will be the subcontractors, in the process of developing the AEW&C System will also be beneficial. Aircraft manufacturer BOEING will also provide support in material procurement, documentation and technical issues.”
Continuous logistics support from Turkish Airlines Technic
THY Technical General Manager Ahmet Karaman said, “We first carried out the base maintenance of 4 Airborne Early Warning and Control AEW&C aircraft in our Air Force Command’s inventory in 2015. We see this service as the pioneer of future projects and strategies and it is a completely different source of pride for us.”
HAVELSAN for software and hardware
HAVELSAN General Manager Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar said, “HAVELSAN, which is the place where knowledge and experience on mission systems software and hardware are created during the development of the AEW&C System, will take part in the maintenance and improvement activities of AEW&C Mission Systems and Ground Systems”.
The critical role of TAI
TAI General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil noted: “We are proud to be in the maintenance management setup created by the Defense Industry Presidency initiative. Within the framework of this mission, our Turkish Air Forces Command will be provided with the technical support of aircraft mission systems in the field of maintenance and operation of the AEW&C System, continue the production and management of technical documentation, and train the user personnel on mission systems if needed, using the knowledge that it has acquired so far. We will perform these services with all our sensitivity at the level. “
