Bayraktar TB3, being an unique design among the MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) Class UCAVs, in the way that it is designed primarily with shipborne operation from platforms like TCG ANADOLU LHD in mind. The new UAV features folding wings (for easier and heftier storage), reinforced landing gear (for short landings those put a noticable strain on landing gear) and a TEI PD170-type turbodiesel engine with a better power/altitude graph compared to gasoline engines. TB3 can also haul a greater load and variety of weapons with its 280 kg payload capacity.
Sporting both LOS and BLOS (SATCOM) communication, Bayraktar TB3 will have a long operational radius. Mission profiles include ISR and strike missions much like Bayraktar TB2. With a greater payload capacity, Bayraktar TB3 can potentially conduct stand-off strike missions with munitions such as KUZGUN TJ and ALPAGUT.
Baykar Tech has signed deals with 28 countries for Bayraktar TB2 and 6 countries for Bayraktar AKINCI so far. Azerbaijan and Pakistan are the known future users of AKINCI. It was also stated by Baykar Tech CTO Haluk Bayraktar that there are countries eyeing for KIZILELMA Unmanned Combat Aircraft .
