Bayraktar TB3’s PD170 turbodiesel engines were delivered
At SAHA EXPO 2022 in İstanbul, TEI General Manager Prof. Dr. Mahmut Faruk Akşit announced that PD170 turbodiesel aviation engines were delivered for Bayraktar TB3 UCAV.
“The engines we have developed are the best engines in the world at altitude, there is no other UAV engine in this class that exceeds 30000 ft. AKSUNGUR has exceeded 30000 ft with our engines and these are really low-burning engines, our engine stayed in the air for 49 hours with AKSUNGUR. Finally, we delivered our engines from this PD170 series for TB3, and Baykar Defense is busy with their integration.”
Bayraktar TB3
Bayraktar TB3, whose technical features were announced at TEKNOFEST 2021, will have a higher payload capacity (280 kg versus 150 kg) and foldable wings to save space during transportation, in addition to its ability to take off from short runways compared to Bayraktar TB2.
Bayraktar TB3 is expected to be deployed in TCG ANADOLU with 30 to 40 units. Bayraktar TB3 UCAV will be able to make STOBAR type landings and take-offs using TCG Anadolu’s deck. It is also stated that with the command center to be integrated into TCG ANADOLU, at least 10 Bayraktar TB3 UCAVs can be used in operations at the same time.
