Tensions escalate between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan said in a written statement, “As a result of strict punitive measures taken against the enemy, in the afternoon of July 13, firing positions, a radar station of the reconnaissance unit, the storage for military vehicles, tank, armored personnel carrier, more than 20 servicemen, the headquarters of the battalion and military infrastructure of the armed forces of Armenia were destroyed by the accurate fire of our units.”

Another statement shared on July 14, it was announced,“Military units of the armed forces of Armenia violated ceasefire 74 times throughout the day in various direction of the front, using large-caliber machine guns, grenade launchers, sniper rifles, 60, 82 and 120 millimeter mortars and the other artillery mounts to escalate situation.
Armenian armed forces, located in Aygepar, Mosesgekh and Chinari villages of Berd region, in Jil village and on nameless hills in Chambarak region subjected to fire the positions of the Azerbaijan Army located in Alibeyli, Aghdam villages of Tovuz region and on nameless hills in Gadabay region.
The positions of Azerbaijan Army were also fired from the positions of Armenian military units located near the occupied Goyarkh village of Terter region, Yusifjanly, Marzili villages of Aghdam region, Kuropatkino village of Khojavend region, Ashaghy Veysalli, Garvand, Garakhanbayli, Ashaghy Seyidahmadli, Gorgan, Kurdlar, Horadiz villages of Fuzuli region, as well as from the positions located on nameless hills in Terter and Khojavend regions.
The enemy was suppressed by retaliation fire. Our units fully control the operational situation.”

Minister of Defense also declared that on the night of July 13-14 and in the morning, fierce fighting continued on the site of the Tovuz region of the Azerbaijan-Armenia state border.
The enemy’s military and combat equipment for various purposes, command post, reserves in the depths of defense, and its forces were destroyed as a result of punitive measures undertaken to suppress the enemy’s activity, according to the MoD.

“On July 12, the units of the armed forces of Armenia attempted an attack using artillery to seize our positions on the Tovuz direction of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border.,” the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan first said on July 12, 2020, in a written statement.  The statement made by the Ministry of Defense also underlined that there were losses from both sides following the incident. “As a result of the adequate steps undertaken by our units, the enemy was defeated and driven back suffering losses. ”
