One of the prominent defense industry companies of Turkey and also supporters of Defence Turk, ASELSAN carries out works on smart ammunition for tanks and armoured vehicles.
35 mm Airburst Ammunition
35 mm Airbust Ammunition, whose fundamental target is air to ground missiles and that was developed by ASELSAN in cooperation with TÜBİTAK SAGE and MKE to be used in KORKUT and Fire Control System as well as 35 mm Modernized Towed Guns, is adapted to increase the efficiency of armoured vehicles. When the ammo is used in KORHAN 35 mm Weapon System still being developed ASELSAN, the efficiency of the weapon system will be also augmented. The said ammo was particularly developed to provide efficiency to infantry targets, light armoured vehicles and critical sensors mounted on heavy armoured vehicles.
The effective range of the ammo to the target set was increased after the number and array of particles were upgraded in a way to intensify the particle density on the target. Where necessary, the ammo can be fired without further need to be programmed and has a deep penetration capability against armoured vehicles, buildings and bunkers.
The development ammo uses the same hardwares and softwares as the 35mm Airburst Ammunition for fire control. Thus, the ammo allow its use in KORKUT and Fire Control System + Modernized Towed Gunds systems in the inventory, as well as the use of 35mm Airburst Ammunition developed for air defense purposes in systems such as KORHAN.
40mm High Velocity Airburst Grenade
Based on its experience in the development of 35mm Airburst Ammunition, ASELSAN developed 40 mm High Velocity Airburst Grenade. The ammo is capable of being programmed to the exact time of detonation while leaving barrel and thus, can be successfully used against both the targets hidden behind cover and mini UAV if integrated into IHTAR air defense system.
The ammunition that can be fired from MK19 gun installed in remote control weapon systems can be used as anti-personnel effective ammunition in vehicles with SARP system.
120mm Smart Tank Ammunition
The study carried out by ASELSAN in the field of smart ammunition with medium caliber intensity was expanded and the studies for smart ammunition were kicked off for tank and howitzer ammunition. Within this scope, there are also some studies to add intelligence to 120mm HE type tank ammunition. Developed through the integration of smart fuze into the classical 120mm HE ammo, 120mm Smart Tank Ammunition will have the features of electronic time programming and impact.
120mm Smart Tank Ammunition is aimed to detonate over and neutralize the protected/unprotected threats hiding/waiting in ambush in anti-tank positions. 120mm Smart Tank Ammunition will be an extremely effective solution for the destruction of critical subsystems (eg periscopes) on the mechanized vehicles in combat elements and it will be ensured that these elements remain inoperable from long distances with high probability.
Bladed Fuze for 155m Calibre Ammunition
Users generally demand that the accuracy of artillery ammo on flight path should be adjusted and precision hit capability should be acquired. ASELSAN’s activities for this purpose first started with the development of a bladed fuze containing multi-purpose fuze features that will operate with 155mm caliber ammunition, and the study is aimted to expand to different calibers.
