ARES armoured reconnaissance vehicle will serve as old Scimitar light armoured reconnaissance vehicle that served United Kingdom Royal Army.
According to a photo released by British Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment’s twitter account, the royal army took delivery of the first ARES that is the APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) variant in the Ajax family of armoured vehicles, replacing the Scimitar combat vehicle reconnaissance.

The AJAX is an armored reconnaissance vehicle developed by General Dynamics UK to replace the British army’s armoured combat vehicles (CVR (T)) family in service since 1971.
General Dynamics was selected as the winner of the Future Rapid Effect System agreement with the ASCOD Common Based platform in 2010. AJAX is the improved version of the ASCOD armoured combat vehicle used by the Spanish and Austrian armed forces. British government ordered 589 Scout SV vehicle totaling a cost of £3.5 billion on September 3, 2014. The order includes six variants: AJAX (turreted, reconnaissance and strike), ARES (reconnaissance and armoured personnel carrier), ARGUS (engineer reconnaissance), ATHENA (command and control), ATLAS (equipment support recover) and APOLLO (equipment repair).
ARES is the reconnaissance variant in the AJAX family. ARES has a crew of 2 including commander and driver, the rear side of the vecihle has seats for 4 infantries. ARES was fitted with a Kongsberg Protector Remote Weapon Station armed with a 12.7mm machine gun.
